The end of the world might seem like a nice place to spend some time pondering about personal choices and coming to terms with whatever life throws at you.

Even better if this place is at one of the sunniest locations on continent, sun is warming the grass beneath your feet and ocean breeze plays with your hair.

Cabo da Roca, or Cape Roca if you like, is one of such places and although the world doesn’t end here, it’s the westernmost point of mainland Europe which makes it a pretty good substitute.

Situated less than an hour from Lisbon, you can get here by car or bus from Sintra. And to take this visit up another notch, continue further down the coast to Cascais, returning to Lisbon via Belem (making a stop for a pastel de Belem goes without saying).
